In partnership Georgia Farmers Market Association (GFMA), Sevananda Natural Foods Market Co-op and Truly Living Well Center for Natural Urban Ag (TLW) launch the Just Food initiative. We will introduce this model in Atlanta on November 3, at Sevananda Natural Foods Co-op in the Little 5 Points community.
Rooted in community, equity, and wellness, Just Food serves shareholders who commit to pay a flat rate on an income-based sliding scale. Shares are purchased ahead of time to guarantee pay to our hardworking farmers, and to ensure low income families have access to healthy produce. A share is a selection of ten varieties of local, sustainably grown produce that is picked up during the scheduled pop-up market. Everyone gets the same selection of fresh, locally produce regardless of how much they pay.
At every Just Food Market experience, a chef demo offers samples and recipes featuring the vegetables and fruits that shareholders bring home that week. All forms of payment (including SNAP/EBT) are accepted at every Just Food Market.
