As we continue to grow the Fresh Stop Market (FSM) initiative, GFMA is excited to embark on a new partnership with Sevananda Natural Food Market! Beginning in the 2019 summer market season, Sevananda and GFMA will be rolling out a new FSM to serve the greater Little 5 Points area. Throughout the planning stages, we will be conducting community assessments and securing local farmer partners. This process helps us connect with and address key community stakeholders to address specific community needs!

For those unfamiliar with Sevananda, they are a community-owned natural food market located in the Little 5 Points neighborhood of Atlanta. Founded in 1974, Sevanada’s mission is to empower their community by increasing access to healthy foods, in order to improve overall well-being and health outcomes. Through a campaign with Georgia Organics, Sevananda “promotes buying local, working with local farmers to supply [their] Member Owners and shoppers with fresh, organic produce grown within 200 miles of [their] store.” Sevananda also takes special measure to be environmentally-conscious through use of solar energy and active recycling practices.

The Georgia Farmers Market Association mission aligns strongly with what Sevananda stands for, and we are more than thrilled to enter into a partnership with them! Taking what we’ve learned from our pilot program, we’re ready to incorporate our knowledge into the launch of our next FSM endeavor!

On Saturday, October 27, 2018, GFMA will be hosting a pop-up market at Sevananda to introduce the community to the Fresh Stop model. Come by to check it out and grab some fresh, local foods!
